T-Mobile WnW max?

Hi - had my phone for about a week and absolutely love it! Only downers being the battery life and shared headphone and power socket (doh!). For the battery I have turned off 3G and Direct Push and using 15 min synchs instead. I am monitoring the battery life and will post how long it lasts.

As for HSDPA - I got the normal £7.50 WnW tarrif (on Flex35) and called customer services up today who said that it IS enabled because I have the WnW 'max' package with allows for maximum speeds. I am not quite sure what this means as I didn't know there was a 'normal' and 'max' - in addition to the 'pro'. Someone care to explain?

This seems a great forum btw. Didn't realise there'd be such an active online community for this phone!

Check your online account details - it should say under 384k uplink under additional services if you've got HSDPA added. I suspect you may have got a less excellent than usual CS operator - max is the most expensive data package that allows internet telephony etc.

Very strange. I just phoned them twice. One said I had max and the other said I am paying 7.50 per month. And they both confirmed they were looking up my details on the computer. Maybe I am getting max for 7.50 per month - how weird!

Tried to set online account to check bill but that had its own issues. My old T-Mobile line needs account activation before I can see the bills for my new mobile. Who on earth were T-Mobile's System Integrators?!!

I received my vario 2 today and am pleased with it so far. I got customer services to check Hi speed data was enabled and he said he had just switched it on for me. How can you tell on the phone that it is using hsdpa for data connections? I've connected to a website but the phone says its using 3g. Is this normal or do I have to tell the phone to use hsdpa somehow?

other than checking your online account additional services screen shows 384 uplink, the best way is when you are in a 3G area try a speed test - www.dslreports.com/mspeed is the best I've found. Over 384 kps is HDSPA.

Thanks for the reply, I'm only getting just over 300 k/s so obviously I'm not getting hi speed data. Is there something in the settings somewhere to enable it? Is this a coverage thing? I've got a good 3g signal, does that mean hsdpa too?

I got my device today as well, but im finding the hsdpa speeds a bit suspect i managed to get 347kbits from the dslreports.com/mspeed test.

Called CS and got told the same thing that im on the web n walk max tariff ad that it is automatically enabled. I couldnt see the setting fr it in my online account.

Hope this thing speeds up the only reason i got it was for HSDPA

Well i checked my speed on that website and I'm getting 720Kbps - so definitely HSDPA and CA said I am on WnW standard - so it seems like they added HSDPA by default...unless they have me on WnW max and I dont know (and wont til my next bill)

Well my speeds were still in the 300's today so I rang CS and asked to check if hsdpa was enabled. They said no, it isn't available on the lowest price £7.50 WnW package. I said that I was told it was when I signed up and that people on this forum have it. They said it is on the 12.50 WnW plus pack and wouldn't back down. Now they are saying the WnW plus pack is only on flex 25 and up ( I'm on flex 20 ). They are supposed to be ringing me back when the CS guy has spoken to their superviser. And there's me thinking I had made a good move getting away from Oranges crap customer service.

It can take up to four weeks for the activation code to come in the mail... I'm still waiting after 3...
