transferring contacts from spv c500 to Vario II

Seeking advice from people who might already have been in a similar situation...

I'm changing phones and mobile phone companies, from an SPV c500 on Orange to a Vario II on T-mobile, and I'd like to shift all the info on my old phone to the new one.

Just sync to Outlook, right? Problem: I don't use Outlook as my PIM.

I know I could install Outlook, sync my contacts from the old phone, and then resync with the new phone, but was wondering if there is a simpler way, such as just copying and pasting the files holding the data.

Thanks

Not using Outlook you are missing out on a main feature of the phone. It's also a good way to ensure you have a backup of your calender and address book incase you lose your phone or it gets stolen etc.

If I lived a more to-do list life the ability to sync would be invaluable, I agree.

My PIM is Lotus Organizer and has been since 1994 (though the program is up the '97 version).

It works perfectly and has 12 years of my life on it, every phone number, diary event, contact, notes, to-do info...

Until making this change, I've used Orange Backup as insurance against disasters.

Hence my question about alternative ways of shifting data from my old phone -- almost all contact info -- to my new phone.

My company uses Lotus Notes instead of Outlook. So I've purchased a 3rd party sync application, and I sync my contacts and calendar to Notes through this program +ActiveSync. I have my personal email on a 4smartphone exchange server though!
