Guest MetalMessiah78 Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 I don't know if this is possible, but does anyone know a way to update the software on the T-Mobile SDA so that it can be compatible with the new My Faves calling plans from T-Mobile? I just got my SDA in June, so I would hate to have to buy a new T-Mobile Dash just to be My Faves compatible. Any ideas or suggestions?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 What is 'My Faves' exactly? P
Guest th1rt3en Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 My Faves is like Alltel's My circle, pick 5 numbers, any carrier, landline or cell phone, and they're free.. decent deal
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Ah OK, so carrier rather than handset based. P
Guest th1rt3en Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 kind of, the phones have to be MyFaves compatible, im sure someone will figure out how to extract it off the Tmobile Dash(MyFave compatible), since it is Smartphone technically
Guest MetalMessiah78 Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 Yup, that's exactly what it is. It's a calling plan from T-Mobile, but it's rather brilliant they way they did it. They make you buy a brand new phone that has the My Faves software, so they not only get your money with the new plan and mandatory 1 year contract extension, but you also have to buy a new phone. You choose the 5 people that you talk to the most, and it's like having unlimitted mobile to mobile with those 5 people. Being that my girlfriend is not on T-Mobile, and she is the person that I talk to the most, this plan would work great for me for that reason alone. Technically, you don't need to have a "My Faves" phone to be able to use this calling plan. You should be able to choose the 5 people you want to call through the T-Mobile website. I've even heard that some people have been able to get a dumb customer service representative to change the plan for them, they've made the changes online, and it works. However, the times I've called trying to get them to do this for me, I've gotten reps on the line who know they are not supposed to change the plan if you don't have the software on the phone, so no luck for me. I'm thinking if I can put the software on the phone, their system will recognize that I have the software, and I'll be able to get on the plan. I figure it's worth a shot since I don't have the $300 to shell out for the Dash (used my headset upgrade discount when I got my SDA).
Guest twodogs Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 Note I can't get this working on TMO UK with a non My Faves handset. MyTmo.com won't update. Gotta go into shop and try borrow a phone to do the initial setup. T Yup, that's exactly what it is. It's a calling plan from T-Mobile, but it's rather brilliant they way they did it.
