Guest Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Hi all can anyone tell me how to hard reset the c600? Secondly I've recently upgraded to the m3100 - very nice btw, distinct change from c600. I'm trying to connect using wi-fi to a Netgear router (WPN824) without success. Wifi works fine with a BT Openworld router - connects first time everytime. Can anyone offer any advice on what I can try to get a stable connection to the Netgear router? More info: I've checked the SSID broadcast & access password. Checked that wifi works ok on other routers. Thanks in advance.
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 To Hard Rest power off the phone and unplug it from the computer. 1. Press and hold soft1 and soft2 keys. 2. Press and hold power button for around 1 to 1.5 seconds. Release power button. Keep hold soft1 and soft2 keys. 3. Later, screen shoould show instructions to ask user to press '0' key to reset to factory default. 4. Press '0' within the timeout period, which is only several seconds only. 5. If no instruction is shown on the screen, repeat steps 1 to 4. The timing is sensitive.
Guest jimbouk Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Re wifi...: 1) usually WEP/WPA keys issues cause problems 2) Sometimes some channels are a bit iffy in some locations - try changing the Netgear to channel 11 3) remove all references to the SSID on the device and then try again - sometimes the wrong settings stick in the registry.

Start > More > Accessories > Clear Storage (or somewhere close to this). Maybe try setting the Wi-Fi performance on the M3100 to "Best Performance", rather than the default of "Best Battery".
Guest Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 Thanks to every one who replied. awarner I found the "Clear Storage" hard reset solution (that yrrep suggested) by reading my old manual...I should try that more often. As for the wi-fi problem...I'm currently set to use Netgears Auto 108 setting which means my channels are locked on 6. But I will try the other suggestions. Once again Thanks!!

Guest Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 Thanks for all of your advice I thought I'd let you know that I fixed and how I did it. The problem seemed to relate to the level of encryption on the router. I had WPA TKIP & AES set up. The M3100 may not be fully compatible with the AES standard. When I switched back to WPA-TKIP the M3100 connected first time without a hitch. Thanks again for your help! The solution was somewhere on this forum but under Pocket PC and TyTN so my search against wi-fi and M3100 didn't show the solution up until I tried wi-fi and TyTN...
