Guest encrypted Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 has anyone found that when you put the hermes into the provided case the magnets cause the phone to re-dial, connect to the internet and do all sorts depening on wat the last screen is on. most annoying. this was one good thing about my blackberry - once it was in the holster it was like auto-keylock
Guest ricardo the fish Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 This appears to be a common problem. I haven't come across the redial issue, but my hermes does sometimes connect to the internet when taken out of the case. The bigggest issue i've seen dicussed within this forum has been with the magnets affecting the screen layout. They can 'trick' the reed switch in the phone into thinking that the keyboard had been opened, and hence switches the screen into landscape, albeit only briefly.

I found (in my case) that if the phone wasn't locked, then it was very easy to push the internet explorer button above the screen. This happened where a call came in and woke the phone, rendering all buttons active unless the buttonlock was on.

I just received a text, and when I took the phone out of the holder, the screen was on and prompting me to go online. I'll try keeping it locked from now on.
