cant sync spv m3100

I hope one of you guys can help me on here with a bit of advise. I have pruchase a m3100 phone and I cant sync it with my pc. I have removed my norton system security disabled my XP firewall and I will get an error saying it cant sync my device. I have upraged active sync to 4.2 and it still does not work and I have gone into the phone settings,connects and changed the usb to pc setting nad still it does not work.

I am at a lose to think of anything else.I have patched up office 2003 and XP with all latest service packs and patches and still cant get it to sync. Please could someone give me some more advice on this.
