Guest mini_man Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 So Saddam has been sentenced to Hanging. What do you think? Should there be another punishment or does him being hanged suffice as a punishment. I think its an easy escape, I know he would not like to die but killing more people doesnt help and it seems like a simple but painful escape from everything for him. I think prison for ever personally. Thats my view What about yours? Sam

Guest mcwarre Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 I find it morally impossible to support capital punishment under any circumstances. The Bible (rather moral) mentions something about an eye-for-an-eye doesn't it? It's a difficult subject; I have similar (ish) beliefs but would make an exception for Sadam, murderers and kiddie fidlers (especially the latter - although castration and making them eat it is also an option)
Guest chucky.egg Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 I can't see hanging him fixing any problems, although it may make his victims and their families feel better. I don't know, I'm not sure I care what they do to him, but I am concerned that it will make the situation in Iraq even worse - just another excuse for the lunatics out there to kill people.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 I'm generally against the death sentence, including for murderers / paedophiles or whatever, purely on the basis that miscarriages of justice DO happen, and it's kinda hard to put it right when you've hung / shot / electrocuted the innocent party. As for the situation with Saddam, with his systematic 'ethnic cleansing' of the Kurds (amongst other atrocities), I can't say I have any sympathy for him. I of course hope he got the right trial, the right verdict and the right sentence for the right reasons, but in this crazy time of 'war' and extreme political puppetry... we'll never know. P
