Guest webcat Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 Hi! Since I'am new to this forum I'am not sure if I post in the right category. I have the following problem: I have developed an application for a Qtek device running Windows Mobile 2003 and I would like to run only this application. Is there a way to boot the device with just this application or is there some other program where you can lock other existing applications in the device. My goal is to prevent other users from using other programs in the device such as games etc. /Webcat
Guest chucky.egg Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 The easiest way is just to remove the shortcuts from the \Windows\Start Menu That won't remove the applications themselves (most of which are still accessible if you get into \Windows) but without a file explorer (which will have gone along with the other shortcuts) you can't do much about it. It's not foolproof - if somebody attaches their phone they can install apps (including a new file explorer) and the icon will appear automatically. What you might want to do is set a speed dial to the built-in file explorer and one for Settings. That way you can still get to them, but the uninitiated won't be able to. If you wanted to you could put the application shortcut into \Windows\Start Up, which will start the app when the phone boots up, but the phone will still go back to the Homescreen first.
Guest webcat Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 Ok, thanks for your advices! How do you make a speed dial to the file expoler? Guest chucky.egg Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 Just find the icon in the Start Menu and press Menu, Add Speed Dial (That's from memory, the wording may be wrong) You can have a high number for the speed dial to stop people using by accident - 111 for example. To use multi-digit speed dials you press the first numbers and press and hold the final number. You may have to mark the shortcut as Hidden rather than deleting it for that to work.
