Guest ivarklung Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 I have a peculiar problem with my HTC TyTn Some of my applications that I normally install from a memory card or by copying it into the memory of the device seem to "fail" installation. The strange thing is that it seems like it succeeds with all messages OK. And even the log file is OK. But what happens is the following: 1. Click on the CAB file in File Explorer 2. The file is not signed, so a warning message is displayed - click OK 3. The progress of the install is displayed 4. When at the end of the progress bar it takes very long time to finish. 5. The installation complets successfully (thats what it says at least..) 6. There is no application installed (not even the shortcuts) So after doing a number of tests I realized the following: The CAB file is installed correctly, even registry entries are done correctly. But at the very end of the cab file install, it suddenly starts to delete the files just installed by the CAB file itself. I can see this happening in File Explorer on the device if quickly navigating to the install folder. The same CAB files work perfectly on WM2003SE and WM2005 Ipaq models (no phone models) I even tried to copy the files from another device, and then it works like a charm. So there is nothing in the files themselves that should prevent it from running/being installed. I should add that I've developed this app myself, but this is consistent with cab files from other suppliers that are not signed or specifically designed for WM2005. Does anybody have any idea why this happens? It seems that there is a ghost app simply deleting new applications that are not 100% designed for, but still 100% compatible..... I migth be supersticious, so forgive me. But this is one of the stranges things I have ever experienced! Any help is deeply appreciated
Guest mitch1974 Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 Change the properties of the cab file to Read Only and it won't be deleted after the install.
