Guest flydr2 Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 I wanted a way to share live camera from my phone (SP5M)... Coolcamera does just that nicely. CCam is an application that allows you to use your phone camera as a webcam. It does this thru TCPIP so it can be used thru WIFI, USB, IFRARED, EDGE, GPRS. 1st you install the software on your PC and your phone... The enter the IP address of you PC in the Config file in your phone... This will tell the phone where to send the video. (I used DynDns.org it's better than to re-enter the IP each time) The PC software ADDs a webcam to your PC... just like any webcam... So to use it with Messenger, simply select that cam instead of your regular webcam... I use Windows Media Encoder on my PC to transmit live feeds. This way anyone can view my camera. Ex.: Open media player, file, open url. Type in my live feed address and view my cam. The nice thing is: EX: I leave the encoder running at home and I want to share something I'm seeing with my wife who is at work. I call her and tell her to logon to my server, I turn CoolCam on in my phone. It sends thru EDGE my video to the encoder and she sees what I see live. When I'm in a area where the is WIFI available the video is fast a good in color 320x240 I get 5fps. For GPRS/EDGE I use 160x120 gray for speed. I get 3 fps I hope this helps someone... If someone whats to see how it works, PM me and we can set a time to show you a live demo.

I found CoolCam could run 25FPS with the right type of SD card, I tried with a 512 Mini sd with converter, I swapped this with a 256 mini sd card I got with Copilot and the framerate went down to half. This was on an M500 BTW. Edited November 26, 2006 by djfuego

SPV M500 takes SD Chunky monkey cards, the 'converter' is a mini SD to large SD converter. just plug the mini sd into the converter then plug this into the SD slot of the phone. 'Aye.. aye... know what I mean? SAY no more!'
