Guest awarner (MVP) Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 The TomTom GPS (new unit) is hard to beat and they have been falling in price on ebay etc. How much do you want to spend?

Guest Jon_010 Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 Well i just bought a cheap bluetooth receiver off eBay, not a tomtom unit and it works a treat. No problems at all!
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 Ebay have them for about £70 so it's abit out of your price range.

Guest Jon_010 Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Its called the BT77, just do a search for it and you'll find it easily. Either ebay just search for BT77 or google it. It's around £30 off ebay. It looks like this: It's only a 16 channel receiver but its never found me to be in a wrong place, I've had it for nearly a year now.

Guest Jon_010 Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 You pair the bluetooth gps to the phone, load up your favorite sat nav software (tomtom, destinator etc) and on you go. As for software yes you'll need as above; tomtom, destinator etc any of which can be found doing a search on the internet. The maps usually come supplied with the software for your location.

Guest Jon_010 Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 Varies, just over £100 for the software and gps receiver. If you go on the link below it has the prices for the different options: Tomtom
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 If you use TomTom (if you can find the 5.2 for sale now) you get the GPS unit as part of the package. The cheaper GPS units are not as good and you do get what you pay for as the saying goes. Just make sure you get a SIRF III chipset in the GPS.
Guest Jon_010 Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 yeah true, you do get what you pay for I'll agree with you on that one! depends what your needs are. I only use it on the occasional long distance trip i do once in a blue moon so i went for the cheap and cheerful option.
