Keypad Entry vs On Screen? (eg - C600 vs M600)

I'm a long time C500 user - love it!!

Am now thinking of moving to one of these "keyboard-less" phones (will wait for M700). How does text entry compare? Do you write on the screen or tap an on screen keyboard? Would you say texting is faster or slower (given a few months of use) ?

Thanks!

Onscreen phonepads are never as good as phone keypads if you want to use it one handed. The initial jump from a phone to a pda is always a little awkward if you are used to typing with your thumb.

If you go for the m600/700 then you will find single handed messaging is not that easy or accurate. Typing with the stylus on either phonepad or onscreen keyboard is quick once you are used to it...but its better to jump straight to an M3100 or similar and get a QWERTY keyboard (although thats still not as easy as a phone for single handed typing).

yeah I went from SP5 to Prophet (M600) and just couldn't get the hang of one handed tryping. With the stylus it was fine (and faster than SP5 phone pad) but there are times when you don't want to be pulling out a stylus :)

me: So give me your number and I'll call you

Hot Chick: sure it ### #######

me: (pulls out stylus)

Hot Chick: (walks off muttering something about nerd ... :D

just moved to dash (QWERTY) keyboard and its probably the best of the lot of them as far as text input goes, one handed is a bit slow but not as slow as the prophet.
