Guest richard_d Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 After wondering why my email had dropped to next to nothing, I investigated and discovered that nothing was coming from my domain address (most of my mail these days). Tried contacting support via email - undeliverable, rang - answerphone only. Browsed web discovered Fast24/Domainbusters seem to have gone belly up without notice. Tried transferring the domain, but of course I needed the TAG changed, and as the company isn't responding... Contacted Nominet who can change TAG for a fee (as I'd only renewed the domain 2 months ago I'm not amused) but they need either driving licence (what does a non-driver want with a driving licence?) or utility bill (all bills I pay for are direct debit without paper billing) Aaaarrggghhh...
Guest Mark Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Richard, I'm in a very similar situation to you. I'm working on a solution and will keep you updated. Its possible that a new company may be able to help any customers of domainbuster but I need to check this isn't a hoax before giving everyone their details.

Thanks - I appreciate it - I'll keep an eye on this thread as PM's will vanish on to my non-existant domain :) I've tried going the Nominet route hoping they'll accept a posted payslip and staff id card as id or a welcome letter from T-Mobile. Who has paper bills these days, and I know I'm not the only person in the world who's happy without a car? <_<

If you can't proove to Nominet that you own the domain this might be your only route. Beware though because I believe this to be the same operating company as before, although I have no real proof of this, other than this bit from the bottom of the page which i'm going to cut and paste as i'm sure they are going to change it: Copyright 2005 Fast24. Prices exclude VAT at 17.5%. All rights reserved. Read Legal Statement and Privacy Policy That bit is from the contact us footer (Fast24 were the ineternet service provider owned by Jason Elsom who have recently after much trouble disappeared) Also, there are references to local files on Jason Elsom's computer on one of the pages right now but again tomorrow morning i'm sure they will be removed. Copyright 2003 Web Hosting All rights reserved. Read Legal Statement and Privacy Policy That bit is from the home page But the company was only incorporated on the 9/11/2006! Also the domain was only registered yesterday. I hope this info helps, PM me if you need anymore help

Guest richard_d Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 Looks like Nominet have done the business in less than 24 hrs - hopefully I'm under way. Well I think I'm finally there. Nominet changed the tag to 123 for £11.75 without fuss. Unfortunately as well as having David Hasslehoff on their website 123/Pipex have appaling Customer Service, so I switched it to 1and1 who seem to bend over backwards to help. Renewal fees are now paid and emails are coming through!
