HELP!!! Have worked out (thanks to this site) how to change the really boring ringtones on this PPC but am having trouble changing my message alert tones. Got a really groovy alert but not sure which folder to put it into to show up on the drop down list in notifications folder (does all that make sense???) Hope someone can help :))

Assuming it's the same as my Vario II it's Windows/rings (you might need to show hidden files on explorer). Make sure the alert is in the right format it won't accept mp3's.

right - thanks for that - how do I view hidden files?!?? I am a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to stuff like this!!! what format do the files need to be in if not mp3?? the same sound works as a ringtone (under sounds).

Default format is WMA (I think wav might work but haven't tried) .

Explore your device using ActiveSync - then in the explorer window under Tools select folder options then view and tick show hidden files.

Thanks for that Richard - managed to do exactly as you said, but still nothing - guess I have to change it into a WMV or whatever - anyone know how to do that???????????????????????
