Guest candyman11 Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 After opening up my phone for the fifth time to figure out if the LCD backlight was due to a loose ribbon, the LCD is not working at all now. The phone appears to turn on normal, because I can see the phone lights still working as well as the phone sounds. Did anybody have an unfortunate turnout like me after opening their phone? A solution would be great too :) So far I see the only three options: 1. buy a replacement LCD screen to see if that works. ($50-150) 2. sell the phone. 3. send it to a repair shop ($45-150) I'd like to see another option where all I have to do to fix the problem is hit some switch I accidently flipped inside the phone :D Thanks for any help you can offer !

The LCD sometimes won't work due to the cable not being inserted all the way. The white line on the board should just about line up with the white line on the cable itself. Take it apart and try inserting it again.
Guest candyman11 Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 fortunado, you are a genius!!! I noticed the white line on the LCD ribbon but did not think of it as being a connection guide. I got it as close as i could to the white line on the pc board. the LCD is functional now, although the LCD backlight still does not work :-( Do you think this is because the connection is still loose, I really tried to force it in there because it would not line up easily.. THank you for pointing out my non functioning LCD problem!!! :-D If you or anybody else can help me with my LCD backlight problem, that would make this the best Thanksgiving weekend and Christmas ever ! ;-)
Guest candyman11 Posted December 28, 2006 Report Posted December 28, 2006 So i bit the bullet and bought a replacement LCD with ebay for around 70 shipped.. and the backlight works great! i am happy now. the probable cause was breaking the lcd backlight bulb when opening up the case and trying to split the faceplate and LCD apart... so be careful when opening your phone..

I think the better option would have been to buy a used one and just keep yours around as parts (other parts could go wrong later as well and not just the lcd), you would have paid maybe 10 bucks more. what's nice is, you'll have extra chargers, cables, etc. and also that you can use your junk phone to charge the extra battery you would have had. this is what happened to me. sorry. just my 2 cents. too bad i didn't catch your post before your purchase.
Guest candyman11 Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 o wow that totally slipped my mind.. i purchased the phone for around 70 bucks as well.. haha o well, i am still happy i have backlit screen :-P
