Help: Can u instant message for free through wifi?

I'm an owner of a US Tmobile SDA and ive used this forum for lost of great advice in th past. I was just wondering if I could use my personal wifi connection to instant message for free instead of paying for a tex-messaging plan. I heard people have done it with the MDA but i didnt know how. Thanks :)

of course, if you have a wireless internet connection then yes you can, just enable wifi on the device and connect to that wireless account point then use it as normal. This is talking about things like MSN/internet access - not text messaging :)

If I enable my wifi, could I use the Aim that came with my SDA through the wifi connection or would i have to download a third party messeneger?

I heard Tmobile will charge the use of AIM that came on my sda as text messaging (I dont have a text plan)
