Hello!

I'm considering getting a Windows Mobile 5 smartphone/PDA-phone device.

Right now im using a HTC Tornado/vodafone V1240.

I love the fact that its so customisable. however, i want something more! my brother has a M600 and its great to use, not too big, not too small and its got pretty much everything.

I've also used my brothers XDA Exec (i think its known as the universal, not 100% certain on that) and its GREAT! i LOVE the screen on it. im tempted to get me one of those.

what i'd like from pocket pc/windows mobile 5 users is the following:

What device do you use,

What do you like most about that device

if theres one thing you could change what would it be?!

the only thing bothering me is the size issue. i hear theres to be a 'M600-ish' device which is thinner?

could people give me reccomendations for a device please. dont want to be spending any more than around 300pounds on it. ideally new.

also, if its worthwhile me waiting it out until september 2007 thats even better as i may be able to get a contract with o2 then too.

so come on! sell me a pocket pc phone! lol.

any help with this would be appreciated.

thank you!

1. I use the MDA Compact III (Just got it)

2. I love the size and weight of the device but the best feature is the GPS

3. I would add 3G/HSDPA if anything but to be honest for what I use the phone for I can just sync with my PC once a day (SPB Insight)

If you can wait until September 2007 I would probably ask this again next year nearer the time, there will be a load of newer better devices by then probably running Crossbow :)

Not a lot for 300 new unless you're happy with unwanted upgrades off ebay. I love my Vario II but it sounds like it might be too big for you. If you can wait a while the HTC Trinity might suit you when operators release it.

The only criteria you've set are size and cost, which (for me) rules out the Universal cos it's huge, and anything brand new because you pay through the nose.

I'd suggest thinking carefully about what you actually want and need. What functions are you missing, how important are they to you, and are they worth the "downsides" (size, weight, battery life generally are poorer than Smartphones).

I switched to a PPC a while back, loved it, got several other PPCs, then grew tired of the size and ended up back on Smartphone (SP5 for me)

Think carefully before spending your money, and probably wait til Sept 07 (if you can) because you'll get better deals on new contracts and the devices will have moved on

the two MAIN functions i need are:

Large screen (sharp and bright) <-- i read a lot of E-Books and i've used my brothers m500 and its more or less perfect, the Exec is a great handset! the screen on that thing is amazing, but too expensive for me.

Fast Processor (or overclockable) <-- im a fan of watching videos on my phone (mainly television episodes) and i'd like something which is quick! compared to my tornado which is only watchable once you overclock it to 264mhz!

and of course any pocketpc device is hideously customisable!

the PocketPc's only really going to be used at home, or for reading books, im still going to be keeping my tornado as i love it as a general phone! (way better than normal phones!)
