Guest zen123 Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 I see that some of you already got the device. My wife wants to replace her Nokia N80 for the white version. Now I previously had an Orange SPV M3100 (HTC Hermes) & had no end of problems with that sold it & now happily using an Asus P525. So how about the the Trinity. -Is it stable? -Does A2DP & AVCRP work properly as in having proper stereo output? -Does the A2DP reconnect automatically to WMP after receiving a call (the -Hermes never did, had to restart everything). -How's wifi reception (the Hermes was crap). She uses wifi a lot as we have 250mins free BTOpenzone minutes a month. -I looked at the HTC website but it seems they do not supply firmware upgrade support for their devices. So where can you get them officially? Even though I had a bad experience with the Hermes I haven't lost all faith in HTC products yet. Fill me in guys. Thanks

Thanks I have found it to be very stable - granted I buggered about for the first couple of hours and then hard reset it to make sure that it was "default". I don't use it as a music player although I am giving some thought to getting a pair of headphones - I use Mac's so I am tied in to iTunes and hence use iPods... Wifi seems to be pretty good - comparing the results of iStumbler and WiFiFoFum its not picking up all of the AP's that I can see but enough to make a good hash of it. Firmware updates - I tend to use XDA Developers and their wiki to source new firmware. At the moment there are no new bits out there for the Trinity yet. I still hope that the GPS will get switched on at some point (yes - I believe the rumours...) As a phone it works fine, DirectPush to exchange works well and 3g is sooo much faster and with Web and Walk I don't mind hammering it. Voice quality is better than I expected but it is a bit too early to guage battery life.
Guest zen123 Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 The wifes P3600 arrived this morning. But they sent the wrong colour. She ordered white & got the black one. Anyways I been playing with it all morning & here's my 1st impressions. Good Looks nice & shiny Small size Excellent loud clear external speaker Nice & responsive Phone reception & general operation is fine 3G works well Bad Shiny surface = fingerprint magnet MS bluetooth stack, better than before but still lacking A2DP implementation. No real stereo only mono out from each channel Also when disconnectd from WMP it doesn't auto reconnect. In summary if you used previous HTC devices before then you'll be familiar with this one. When used as a pda & phone it does most things as expected, the menus & general operation are same as before. But its going back, one of the main reasons being the crap A2DP. Wifey uses music player a lot on her 1 hour daily commute & the fact that sound quality is rubbish (low volume & no stereo) & no option to connect a wired headphones as theres no headphone jack. The same problem as the Hermes in that once disconnected from WMP it doesn't auto reconnect. Have to go into Bluetooth manger to re establish the connection. Also comparing it to my Asus P525 other than the smaller size, 3G, louder external speaker & looks a bit nicer, in all other depts the Asus is as good & some areas much much better.
Guest gvr Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 (edited) *snip snip* ....& no option to connect a wired headphones as theres no headphone jack. *snip snip* Take a look at the following link, its for an adaptor to convert the mini USB port to a 3.5mm stereo jack. Should do the trick. http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/12552.htm They are currently out of stock on this one site but should readily available elsewhere. Edited January 4, 2007 by gvr
Guest Blakey Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 That looks like a good piece of kit (and answers my previous post about whether the Trinity has a headphone jack nicely - sorry for not noticing this earlier). However this still has a problem - with this adaptor in there you can listen to music, but you can't charge the phone at the same time (right?). Which means you can't use this in the car on a long car journey as the phone will run out of juice. I wonder if there are any similar adaptors which also give a USB female port so the phone can also be charged at the same time?

Guest Blakey Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 Yup! That works. Only issue is - where do you buy them from? Didn't see a link on that page.
Guest dave_a Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 Yup! That works. Only issue is - where do you buy them from? Didn't see a link on that page. You could try the following (slightly different to the one in the xda-developers thread: http://www.gpsforless.co.uk/product_details.php?id=6873
Guest Blakey Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 Nice one Dave - that's the ticket. Fair price too. Okay, that's one obstacle out of the way when considering buying a Trinity.

So, is this still a problem with the Trinity? Have newer ROMs sorted this or is it still a feature of the phone? (Still doing research and trying to decide if this is a good upgrade from my m600...) (Still doing research and trying to decide if this is a good upgrade from my m600...) Blakey The A2DP on my SPV M700 variant works well- sound quality via 40iPlay into Anycom BSH100's is good, and the dropouts are far less than on my previous FS N560. You still need a registry hack to enable true stereo. Processor load in stereo with 40iPlay is only about 15%. The annoyance of the need to reconnect after a shutdown of either the phones or the device, using BT Manager is still present, but the connection seems to survive a simple suspend of the device.
Guest Srk Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 Yes this is a great phone, well I have to say it was.... First of yes it has GPS if you have the right ROM. Currently DOPOD rom supports GPS and it works great. But after couple of weeks of enjoying the phone one day it suddenly started acting up. The start menu started to pop up constantly and after couple of minutes the touch screen became completely useless. taking of the screen protector hard reset fixed the problem but couple of minutes more use and it has shows the same problem. Worse of all, I am not the only one having this problem. There are about 30 people on the XDA-developers.com that are experiencing this problem. So if you are thinking about buying this phone beaware... read about it at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295043 BTW if anybody has an idea what this problem is related to please let me/us know. Thanks Serkan\
