Here is a surefire way to get your GPS receiver working with TomTom mobile on a C600:

Clear all previous attempts to link GPS device + com ports

Turn on bluetooth

Start TomTom Mobile

Select change preferences

Select Show gps status

Select configure

Select other bluetooth device

press call end button (this takes you back to c600 homescreen)

select settings

select connections

select bluetooth

press menu

select devices

press menu

select new to search for your gps

highlight the gps device and press next

enter passcode if required (e.g. 0000) and press next

select ok

press next

press done (i have had working with serial port checked or unchecked)

press done

press menu

select com ports

select new incoming port as com 6

check secure connection

press done

press back arrow until TomTom appears again

you should now how a signal or messsage saying no valid gps signal. If it says no valid gps device then it has not worked.
