Guest Apreche Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Alright, I've got a tricky situation. Right now I have two phones. I have a completely generic Samsung cameraphone from Verizon Wireless that I use only for personal calling. I also have a T-Mobile Blackberry 7230 given to me by my employer that I use only for company e-mail. The contract for my cameraphone runs out at the end of this year, and I would like to replace both of these devices with a single device. It really sucks carrying two devices around. Here are my needs. I need the following: To be able to do push e-mail with my company's Blackberry/Exchange server. To syncrhonize calendar, etc. with company's server. To be able to make and receive phone calls easily. Bluetooth, so I can have a wireless headset. To be able to install Java applications like mobile Opera, mobile Google Maps, mobber, etc. To access my personal e-mail accounts which are powered by Gmail for domains. A camera, any quality will do. A device that is relatively small, I am trying to carry less around with me, not more. I would like the following: To syncrhonize the phone with my Google calendar. To be able to use the phone as a bluetooth modem to connect my laptop to the Internet. The phone to synchronize with Linux systems, as that is my primary operating system. To stick with Verizon Wireless because they have the best coverage in the New York area, but I realize they prevent installing Java apps. I just might have to switch. To be able to easily develop new software for my phone. The phone to have long battery life. The phone to not cost an arm and a leg. I don't make a lot of calls, so I'll probably be getting a calling plan with very few minutes and my company will pay for an unlimited data plan. Please tell me which phone/provider combination will best suit my needs. I am really clueless, and I've only got a month left before the contract runs out. The only phone that has caught my eye at all is the Motorola Q. It's got the right size and style going on, but again, I don't think Verizon will let me install the Java apps and the phone is only available from them. Please help me find a phone, thanks.
