T-Mobile Big Marketing Campaign in Summer?

I've read about this in a few places that apparently T-Mobile are gonna have a big marketing campaign this summer for their new Web N Walk tariffs...

Do you guys reckon that there will be better deals than the current 25% off ones? (which tbh, are pretty good anyway). My memory only goes back to the previous deal two(?) months ago where it was 50% off for 12 months...do you rate this deal better than the current one going at the moment?

I was all ready to start my new contract on Flext+WnW but the prospects of the Vario II coming out is making me rethink things a lil'. With the new WnW, 3G would be very useful! :)

To get an approx idea with the price of the Vario II: When the Vario first came out, what was the price being asked to buy it on a mid Tariff (i.e. ?25-30)?

thx :D

If they are, they need to change that god awfull 'on hold' tune I've just been subjected to for 5 minutes before I gave up trying to find out what's happened to my Vario order!

Fleabag may be able to tell us, since he seems pretty well connected. Can't think that there can be much better than 25% off for life, unless I suppose the competition drives down prices across the whole market in the next 18 months in which case a shorter lived 50% offer may work out better. Other thing that would improve it for me would be a move back to 12 months contracts. I think I will end up finding out anyway, since the phone I want it unlikely to appear before the end of April and one of my contracts on Orange is due to run until 2007, so the longer I hold on the better.

Thing to remember about the old 50% discount was that if you upgraded, you lost your discount. If you didn't upgrade, the 50% discount remained (forever, until you upgrade/switch plans).

The new 25% discount really is for life (as long as you don't change plan) - you're fully entitled to upgrade in 18 months time and keep your 25% discount. Plus, 25% discount for 18 months (minimum) or 50% discount for 12 months (minimum). The price difference on a ?30 plan is just ?45 over 18 months (?2.50 per month) - yet you get to upgrade and keep the discount. Plus, it means your outgoings are the same each month, rather than rising after a few months (and then dropping again).

As for the 12 month contracts - Flext is 18 months whilst Relax is 12 months. And the W'n'W add on is allowed for both - so you're not stuck with 18 month contracts.

I'm guessing that the handset won't be <?100 on a ?30 tariff - possibly ?120 seeing as they can push it as a 3G device, and that it's new.

I'm looking at switching from Orange to T-Mobile, and want to get a Vario. However, they are no longer on the T-Mobile website, nor in any retail stores I called, nor from the T-Mobile telesales office.

I know that the Vario 2 is due for release in Germany soon'ish, is this unavailability of Vario's in the UK a precursor to release of the Vario 2 in the UK? or is that wishful thinking, and the rumours that the Vario 2 is only slated for German release true?

Or is it purely a stock issue, with new stock arriving shortly (as the telesales staff told me??!)

Welcome to Mobiholics :)

From what I've gathered (I've been working my way thru different sources to get myself a Vario on Flext too!) they simply have a stock shortage problem due to the excessive demand Flext has created. The guy at the bullring store said they'd never had a month as good as March since he'd been with Tmobile, and that the Vario is in such high demand they have to prioritise key stores (hence why the Bullring had 36 delivered last Friday).

Keep trying though, and you'll get one eventually :D
