Guest Shuflie Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Switched DNS provider, obviously it's not gone very smoothly! I'm working on fixing it now... :) P You got an ip address we can point at in the meantime?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 You could edit your c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and add the line: 70.85.29.116 www.modaco.com That should work! P

P Nice one, it worked. Just going to the IP address itself droped me into a phpmyadmin login box, same with modaco.co.uk.
Guest tsutton Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Phew...I thought you forgot to renew your domain and someone took over it. :)
Guest peekie Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 i still cannot get modaco even with the above ideas :)

Guest sporkguy Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 how very odd - my iMac's dnscache must last forever because I could access modaco up until about 10 minutes ago lol
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 :D( i cant get there yet... Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Updated, just spoken to the new hosts, and there is a problem with DNS replication that should be resolved in 2-3 hours... P
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 No, your post wasn't 3 hours after my one, but no, still no joy... will keep chasing, and if it's not sorted this evening, roll back DNS to old provider... P
Guest confucious Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Ah! - times showing as GMT not BST - either that or I'm just ahead of my time.... [Edit] I had auto DST adjustment ticked - when I unticked it another check box appeared asking if DST was active - selecting that has corrected times. Don't know why the auto DST wasn't working[/Edit] [Edit 2] Just done nslookup on mdaco.com and there ar 8 addresses - all 66.150.xxx.xxx or 66.25.xxx.xxx - surely any changes to the A record will take up to 3 days to filter through? - or isn't it the A record you're changing?[/Edit 2]
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 A record IS what is changing, but 3 days isn't necessarily how long it will take to filter thru. I am pleased to report that the correct data is FINALLY on the DNS servers, so everything should start returning to normal any time now. Phew, what a day... P
Guest tsutton Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Now can see the site - yay! With some errors IPB WARNING [2] file(http://www.modaco.com/content/mobiholicsposts.htm): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found (Line: 3 of /sources/action_public/uportal.php(441) : eval()'d code) IPB WARNING [2] implode(): Bad arguments. (Line: 3 of /sources/action_public/uportal.php(441) : eval()'d code)
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Yep, that's because the webserver itself doesn't have the updated DNS... that will go away soon. P
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I'm just glad I can get it at my work now :) The PC's here are locked down so I had to wait for the changes to take effect normally as the system files are not accessable.
Guest tsutton Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Seems to be sorted now. Thanks for your hard work, Paul.
Guest James Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 trying to fix the 'surf control' for me eh paul? :)
