Backup using Activesync Question..Please Help

Just purchased a BlackJack and I want to start adding applications and software. Well from my experience in the past I've learned that it is probably best to back up the smartphone as I go. I am able to successfully connect and sync using activesync, but I do not have a "backup" option under tools. Everywhere where I've searched on the web states that the backup options should be located under tools. I'm using the blackjack/activesync 4.2.0 cd that came with the blackjack. The activesync link microsoft is not cooperating today.

Am I missing something? :) Any help would be appreciated.
