Guest pdtp Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 (edited) This has been menchened before but no one really posted on it. Navizon is a software-only wireless positioning system that triangulates signals broadcasted from Wi-Fi access points and Cellular towers to help the users find their way in most major metropolitan areas worldwide.I personaly havnt used it as a GPS system cus i have a blue tooth gps, but the idea is great for those who cant afford a gps. The Navizon network is based on a collaborative database. Members with a GPS device can use Navizon to map the Wi-Fi and cellular landscape in their neighborhoods. Once they synchronize their data, it is made available to all the other users of the network. This way, users who don't have a GPS device can benefit from a really accurate and cheap positioning system! i have uploaded over 2k cell towers and WIFI and i have only had the program installed for 3 days (went on a trip souther CA). It show the position of the cell towers and access points on a google map that is zoomable. its kinda fun to see how many access points and cell towers are around your neighborhood. if you get 10k worth of coins (2 coins for WIFI 10 coins for Cell tower) the send you 19.95 (or 19.99 i forget which) to your paypal account. http://www.navizon.com/ Edited December 4, 2006 by pdtp
