stop soft keyboard auto popup

Is there a registry key or something that will stop the soft keyboard from automatically poping up when i choose a text field?

It even does it when i have the slider out. I never thought it did this previously so maybe some program enabled it.

Its rather annoying.

If you ignore it it'll go away, basically type when it pops up and it'll go away and won't appear again. Alternatively there is a null keyboard as part of the PHM Power Toys on the essential Hermes software page.

if you dont use the OSK, set it to Transcriber or some other input method that is less intrusive?
