Cannot write to Extended ROM

Recommended Posts

I've opened up my Extended Rom using the v2 CAB in the Free Software post, however it doesn't seem to be letting me install applications into there.

Is there a limitation to what I can instal or am I just being stupid..... :)

I don't know of any limitation - I've installed there fine...

Using the Fit4Cat Hermes Tweak utility I noticed two tick boxes:

Mount Extrom

Unlock Extrom

Yours isnt still locked is it, if that even is the write protection?

That would make sense, anybody know of a single cab that can do the trick rather than intall the full tweaker.

Been there, done it !

It's enabled me on on a Read / Run basis, but not on an install basis. I'll load the tweaker to see if it aids the situation and report back.

Also make sure you have hidden folder showing. I could not write to my extended rom but that was because there was a hidden recycle bin on there which still had the old files in. I deleted that and then had ~ 10Mb to play with.

Thanks for all the hep. The Tweaker sorted it out and it was the difference between Mount and Unlock.

One sort of related question..... What sort of volume of programs should I load into the Extended Rom ? Can I fill it to 100 % or should I leave some space (just wondering what will happen if T-Mobile try to shift an update to me in the future.
