Guest omar_g Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 Hi all, I've recently bought an Orange C600, with a view to using it to manage my schedule. When I connect it to my work notebook computer via USB ActiveSync refuses to find it. When I connect via bluetooth (assigning a COM port etc) it is found, but ActiveSync says it is unable to connect as I am not using a Smartphone of PocketPC device. I've tried everything from reinstalling ActiveSync, trying the v2.5 beta, hard format of the phone, but nothing helps. The really odd part is that it will connect to ActiveSync on my home notebook computer with no problems what so ever, either via USB or bluetooth. Can anyone help!?
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 First guess is that it might be your office firewall. Is it the same OS on both notebooks ?
Guest omar_g Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 First guess is that it might be your office firewall. Is it the same OS on both notebooks ? Yeah, Windows XP Pro SP2 on both machines. I works fine on my home desktop too; MCE 2005. I thought it might be a firewall but I was always able to sync my Sony Ericsson and Nokia handsets via bluetooth and USB with no problems.... There is a test function built in to ActiveSync which passes everything on my PC and says that it should all work fine. :-(
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 Are you getting any error messages?
Guest omar_g Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 (edited) Are you getting any error messages? Hi awarner, I remember you from the early days of Modaco! Not via USB no. It just doesn't find the device at all (although Windows finds it and installs drivers automatically with no probolems). Via Bluetooth it tells me that it is unable to sync because I am not using a Smartphone or Windows Mobile device. Incidentally, while syncronisation is my main goal long term, in the short time I'm desperate to sim unlock the phone so i can use it with my work sim card (Vodafone). Am I right in thinking that this needs the phone to be decert.? I can't decertifiy the phone until Orange send me the security level app? :-( Edited December 6, 2006 by omar_g
