Guest Jakob Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 As the topic says.. When can we expect a non-qwerty smartphone? I´m not interested in carrying a brick in my pocket - nothing C500-sized has been released since.. eh.. since the C500.. The 8310 (HTC Whatever) was big in comparison and now the trend obviously is huge brick-size phones with keyboards. We´ve got the Hermes, but some genious forgot about processing speed, WI-FI and size when he came up with the idea. Any news - anyone?? /Jakob
Guest chucky.egg Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Hermes is a PPC not a Smartphone, so assuming you're looking for a Smartphone and not a touch-screen PDA... There's the SPL (very thin) The Blackjack (quite thin, widescreen) The SP5 (imate SP5, O2 XDA IQ etc) which is about C500 size with WM5 and WiFi There's supposed to be a new 3G Smartphone from HTC (I think) on O2 soon, can't recall the name though
Guest Jakob Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Sorry - not Hermes - the MTeoR.. The SPL is longer and wider than the C500 (no Wi-FI, no Edge) The Blackjack is much longer and much wider as the C500 The SP5 is albeit the same size as C500, but feels bulkier (and more than a year old) The Asus Graphite looks promising but the design is quite boring (and no wi-fi) (and bigger than c500) Any ideas? /jakob Hermes is a PPC not a Smartphone, so assuming you're looking for a Smartphone and not a touch-screen PDA... The C500 was (or is still) just great, and it is high time a similar phone comes out. In addition of what the C500 got already, it should include: -more capacity (lets' talk Gb here) -faster processor, of course -WIFI -3G -2 or 3 Megapixel camera (not necessarily a front one) -3.5mm jack in addition of a mini usb (I know I'm dreaming) -Some solide softs, such as voip, BT' handling, etc. Feel free to add more features and to forward it to HTC' developers, ha ha! ;-)
Guest Confucious Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 The C600 is a souped up C500 - only really lacking 3G All you people who want WiFi obviously haven't tried it - I stopped using on my Universal when I got unlimited 3G. WiFi EATS batteries which makes it pretty useless IMHO. I'd much rather have unlimited 3G
Guest Looby Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Due out on i-mate in February 2007........ :)
