An unlock de-cert guide should be pinned...

Perhaps this goes unnoticed because so many of you are regulars here, but it is near impossible for a new forum user to find a guide to unlocking their C600 handset.

Searching brings up loads of tutorials and threads, most of which make absolutely no sense to a 'n00b'.

The fact that there are different methods depending on whether you have AKU2 or not is not initially clear, neither is it made obvious how to check whether you have it at all (I only know because there was a leaflet in the box).

The best tutorials still often assume that the reader knows the difference between decertification, security unlocking, app unlocking, AKU2 security adjustments, sim unlocking etc etc etc etc etc. which is all very confusing! Trying to find a SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe was even harder, just hundreds of dead links and cryptic posts on the old MPX220 threads.

After hours (days!) of reading I think I know what to do next, just need to wait for the files from Orange which may never arrive. and then i'll attempt to stumble my way through! Even then, all I want is to sim unlock it and use Tom Tom 6. I'm not even sure I'm doing the right thing to get that far....

One guide, pinned, which very clearly explains the steps needed to unlock a C600 would be a great help for new users and encourage them to join in rather than feel a little intimidated and overawed by the vast amount of information stored (to the uninitiated) at random across the various forums.

Any thoughts?

Forget TomTom 6 as there is not a version available for your phone.

TomTom have not released a Windows Smartphone version for the latest release.

As for pinning topics most sections do have this already and when I get time I will look into this and some of the other newer sections.

Oh dear. I rather stupidly assumed I could buy it for my C600 once it was unlocked!

Only TomTom 5 will work on the C600 and it does not need to be application unlocked to make it work.

Please that would be great! I cant get my new phone to do anything i want, and now i can see another war of getting tomtom 5 to run again....
