'Update Successful' - wtf?

Hello,

I wonder if you could help me with a very wierd situation. This morning, I switched on my Wizard (T-mobile MDA Vario), and it was displaying the message "Update Successful" on a pink screen. Now, I never set it to do anything, and haven't seen that before in nine months of owning it. Any ideas what it could be? A virus? I love the device, but don't think much of the OS...

Thanks for any help in advance.

David.

Just an idea: could it be a SIM update? I used to be on Orange, and got those all the time, but I did have to read the text message. The vario does automatically pop up a bubble with the text though, so maybe it updates automatically because of that?

I don't think it's a sim update, they certainly don't look like that when I get them

Not sure what it would be though...

Do you have any applications on there that might be set to periodically check for updates?

My Vario did this the other day too.

No idea what it meant. When I googled the name of the app (that was mentioned in the title bar or somewhere on the screen), it did indeed seem that it was something to do with a SIM update.

Nothing seems to have changed...

Thank you so much for resurrecting this thread - I even asked in a T-mobile shop, but they didn't know, but did reassure me that there weren't really any viruses out in the wild for WM5. A SIM update was what I originally thought of, had many with orange, just didn't work automatically.

I got this the other day on my Vario 2, it was full screen and white and the title bar mentioned the STK Updater.

I looked around and found STK in the programs menu, it looks like it's SIM based interactive services provided by T-Mobiel. Stuff like Horoscopes and such for people without data plans, it just takes up SMS allowance etc.

I wouldn't worry about it. :)
