hey

How can i COMPLETELY WIPE the rom partition and flash a new rom to the phone?

namely the vodafone v1240 v2.0.9.0 rom.

the problem i've had is that i've tried quite a few different roms and i've noticed that some things like the 'alert' screen is the one which belongs to a different rom!

would a repeat update of the rom work? (what i mean is, do the Rom Update Utility 2/3 times repeatedly?)

the reason for this is the fact that i'm having trouble changing the homescreen!

the layout will stay the same as the previous homescreen but the colour scheme will be the of the new one which i have changed it to! and, once i have changed the homescreen, i cant get back to the homescreen either!

HELP!!!!!!!!

Updating the same rom numerous time will not change how the device works from the first flash.

As for completely wiping the ROM you would have to find a ROM update that basically is a complete install.

As for installing homescreens try one of the many themes we have here on the site, there should be one which suits you.

Ok before i tell you how to do this. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER. i have done this many times with success so chances are if its gone wrong its your fault (nothing personal :D). Remember only YOU can turn your phone into a paperweight.

[EDIT: Have you tried hard reseting :P Also you would probably be better of just CID unlocking and flashing an imate SP5 ROM]

To format your OS partition, first set CID=11111111 with the SPV services utility. then download one of the leaked wm5 roms for the typhoon (note to mods: this is the only location i know of for the utility required) unzip it and you notice mtty1.42.exe. now disable usb connections in active sync under the connection setting. turn the phone off. hold camera and plug into the usb port. open up mtty1.42.exe and select usb from the port list (dont change anything else) and press ok. then you will be presented with a terminal window. type in the command below:

format BINFS

This will format your OS. then reflash however you like :)

Hi Phil, would this work for a sp3i. I have a Imate Sp3 which the main board wont charge, I also have a Sp3i board but cannot flash the Sp3 rom to it. (I've installed the sp3i board into the Sp3) Or can I install the keyboard files from the Sp3, if so how? Thanks for any help you can provide.

From memory flashing an SP3 with a SP3i ROM causes control issues with the joystick.
