Guest mstephenson Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 I've got an i-mate SPL running windows 5.0 and just wondered what the best sat nav solution is? The only thing i've found so far that definately looks like it will work is Copilot 6. I'm after an all in one package (e.g. software and bluetooth gps receiver together) and as cheap as possible really as i'm not planning to use it all that frequently. So what do you guys use? How much did it cost? And what would you reccommend? Cheers in advance guys!
Guest chucky.egg Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 TomTom, for me, is the best - but there's no WM5 version CoPilot is OK, but I didn't get on with the interface on the PPC I'm using Route66 at the moment and like it a lot. There are things which aren't great - jumping to the destination, navigating to a contact is poor IMO, and I can't find a way to see the route in text format Route66 was £35 plus the cost of a BT GPS (£30+ on ebay)

I wasn't expecting greatness from any of them really, except maybe TomTom but as you say thats not an option! Around £65 looks to be a great price too, less than half what I saw Co Pilot 6 on sale for.
Guest conan_troutman Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 tomtom not an option thats cods wallop you do need to find an old version it needs to be mobile five not navigator 5 and deffinetly not navigator 6 as that does work with WM5 but not smartphone jsut PPC
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 To clarify the above, TomTom 6 is not available for the Windows Smartphone so you would need to find somewhere that still stocked the older version 5. CoPilot is ok but not user friendly and is also a bit buggy (but I'm assured updates will fix this.
Guest conan_troutman Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 whats was there to clarify I'm a little lost some said that there is no WM5 version available for tom when there is just as we both said not for WM5 smartphone, sorry if I sound argumentative but I hate beeing corrected when I'm not wrong. maybe my answer was rushed so wasn't as clear as you stated but in my deffence my wifes in labour and I'm playing on the computer so you can imagine the grief i keep getting hahaha

Guest chucky.egg Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Sorry to be picky, but I don't like being corrected when i'm not wrong either. This is a smartphone area, and a post specifically about smartphones, so in my experience (Having looked for v5) TomTom really isn't an option.
Guest conan_troutman Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 I never said it would be easy to find but "isn't" is more like a "Can't be arsed looking for it" granted it would be difficult to track down but if your willing to put in the time and efort it "is" an option but let me tell you the more exciting news A girl 5lb 6oz strawberry blond and beautiful....name undisided as yet and only 56 hours of labour the first 20 dont count though they were just teasers
Guest Itamar Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Congrats :) Just to let you all know that NAvigator 5 works very well on my Qtek 9100 WM5 phone. Best regards, Itamar Engelsman PS: I don't frequent this forum that often so email me if someone has further questions ([email protected])
