Guest shandar Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 (edited) I know, this has been done a couple of times before but the general case for all these hacks were that they didn't keep the microphone and answer button. Thus you're forced to get your phone out of your bag/pocket and unplug the headphones when someone calls. When you hang up TCPMP starts to play again, broadcasting your music to everyone around you. Annoying. What I did was to open up to microphone and unsolder the old headphones, then solder my own connector in there. Sure, it gives you some extra cable hanging around your neck, but I prefer to have a working mic :) This is what mine looks like: What I did was to open it up, then unsolder the four wires that go to the headphones. After that I carefully soldered the cables from the headphones jack on the now empty pads. On my jack (stolen from an extension cable for a pair of Philips headphones) there were three wires coming out of it, one red, one green and one yellow. Usually the red one is right, yellow is ground and green is left, but this may vary. If you're unsure, check them with a voltmeter before soldering them on. Btw, if they are colored you need to heat them up with a soldering iron to get rid of the enamel, otherwise they won't conduct any current. The red (right) goes on the right solder pad (next to the text R+ printed on the PCB :D), the yellow one (ground) on the two pads in the middle and the green one (left) on the left pad (L+). After this it's just to carefully tie a small knot on the cable to avoid ripping it out when unplugging the headphones and snap the case shut! Piece of cake! EDIT: Typo.
