u mean for example if your trying to install a 5mb program on the sd card but u only have 3mb on ur device and when its a little more than half way thru installing on the card ur device memory runs out?

im really not sure how to do that and its really annoying when that does happen. ul just have to clean out space on ur phone and then install it to the card

wait i think i found a way... i cant guarentee u it works for sure, but i have about 3.8mb of memory on my phone, and i realized i jsut installed a 4.6mb game to my phone, and i remembered this topic. if u go into file explorer and go to options, check the box that says "save temporary files in storage card" i think that's wat does it.

also i had the .cab file on my storage card and was installing from there, maybe thats wat made the difference. if ur installing a .exe setup via microsoft activesync go into ur hardrive in program files and under microsoft active sync look for the .cab that has been created from the .exe and put it on ur storage card.

so its either 1 of those 2 things that does it. idk if that last part is even wat does it. u tell me wich one worked...

Hi there :D

I think it depends on the CAB design. Some authors use "%InstallDir%" macro at the [CEStrings] and [DestinationDirs] sections of the INF. Macros are used to replace a number of standard directories on Windows CE devices. Instead of specifying that files be installed to \Program Files of either \Storage (internal) or \Storage Card (external), author will just use "%InstallDir%" macro. In effect, during CAB installation, user will be asked where to install the files (\Phone or \Stprage Card)

Some CAB authors on the other hand does not use "%InstallDir%" macro. They indicate specific install directories on the INF. In effect, there wil be no prompt for target directory during install process.

For example:

[DestinationDirs]

CopyFiles1=0,"\Storage\Program Files\AppFolder"

CopyFiles2=0,"\Storage\Program Files\AppFolder\Subfolder"

Also, during install process most CABs are temporarily dumped to \Storage\windows\AppMgr\Install. If you only have say 2Mb of internal space left but tries to install an 8mb CAB, you will most likely encounter inadequate space error.

That's as far as I can recall. I hope that helps.

ok, thanks for your help, what i did was remove all of my programs and reinstall them to the SD, and my melodies, y lowered the quality and reduced the size, so now i've got 10 MB fre or so....next time i'll trie to do what mikeeey says, and if it doesn't work...i'll try to extract the cab to my PC, try to change the code asgpcarreon says and....we'll see what happens..

if somedy has tried anything and worked, please post.

Thanks again:)
