Guest The PocketTV Team Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 (edited) We discovered some serious firmware bugs and inconsistencies in the Samsung BlackJack after users reported their device freezing when running our PocketTV freeware. It is likely that a number of games and video applications are affected by the same problems we had, so if you have a BlackJack, be very cautious before installing any application (especially game or video player). Some problems we found are un-related to video or game and can affect any application. If you are a Game or Video developer, make sure you test your applications on the BlackJack. Even though it is a Landscape 320x240 Smartphone the ressembles the Motorola Q, ther are many firmware differences, and both devices have different bugs. The OS version is also different in both. We were able to resolve all the issues we found with PocketTV on the BlackJack (it took several days and required getting an actual device hacked for allowing debugging on it!). We will document our findings in a few days. Those issues can have sever consequences (device frozen and in some cases, data loss was reported). Always do a full backup before installing any third-party application or game on your device, especially if it is a BlackJack! Also you might want to check out this ennoying design flaw in the BlackJack D-Pad before getting one. Edited December 14, 2006 by The PocketTV Team
