Unfortunately stopping the update at midpoint is a known killer of devices.

If the phone will not start at all there is not much that can be done apart from send the phone off for a possible repair. Cingular should be able to advice on who you can return the phone to for repair.

If the phone won't switch on then it means the bootloader is goosed, which is the bit that has to start to accept the update from the pc. Sorry mate,

Try holding camera and then plugging it into the usb port, if it comes up with a tri coloured screen then your in luck and you can simply rerun the update utility.

If not, its buggered :)

COME ON GUYS!!!!! There definetely is a way. I've herd from one dude, that it cold be booted from mini-SD card with boot loader on it, the only problem is that I don't have those particular software to create bot SD-card. If anyone herd soething about it, please let me know.

Only thing i'm retty sure about s that when any devce is being produced, menfactrer flashes it without ANY CONNECTION TO PC, or special cations from device's side...

It's more likely to be bricked, but if you're happy to try something else, knowing that it may or may not work (or make it worse), check out http://www.xda-developers.com - they might be help.

But remember, it may or may not work.

I understood that once the bootloader was corrupt it wasn't possible to boot at all whether it be from storage card or storage so I think you're out of luck. Apparently it is possible to salvage with JTAG equipment but that's apparently quite specialist and you're not going to find one outside a professional repair service.

Your best best is to contact Cingular's authorised repairer yourself and ask how much they'll charge to fix it. Otherwise buy another as it may be cheaper :)

The phone needs to load at least the bootloader before it can access the storage card.

HTC are about the only people who can repair a bricked phone.

JTAG is possible but beyond any of us here at MoDaCo, if your able to find/create a valid bootloader image in .bin format, find the JTAG points on your phone, connect them up in the right order by soldering them to the mainboard, build your own JTAG interface, connect your JTAG interface to a serial port, detect your processor and onboard flash memory, reflash your bootloader using a JTAG program supporting the ARM 926 core, reassign your IMEI and serial number and reflash a working ROM then be my guest :D

And that, is how HTC first load a ROM onto a device after its just rolled off the production line, The End [closes book]

An SD image is possible ONLY if you have a bootloader and ONLY if that bootloader supports r2sd commands, i have a C600 in the same state and it i can confirm card backups do nothing for it.

As pondrew said, try Cingular, if not, try www.htcamerica.com

[EDIT: And if you get the JTAG points in the wrong order, you WILL completely kill your device with NO chance of repair :)]

I can't help you with the JTAG method as I have no idea where the JTAG points are. However when i find out where they are i will be able to ressurect phones as i have some IPL+SPL images for tornado :)

As for the SD card method, find a working 2125 and a PC, disable usb connections in active sync, hold camera on the working 2125 and plug into the usb port. open up mtty1.42.exe (which can be found in the leaked wm5 roms for the typhoon) select usb from the port list and press ok (touch nothing else) then type in the command:

r2sd all

This will dump your ROM to the SD Card allowing you to restore from it later, however it will erase all data on the SD card, put it in your phone and press and hold camera and the power button, IF the screen comes up with SD IMAGE then press the volume down button and it'll restore the rom to the backup you made from the other phone.

However you need a working bootloader for this and tbh it sounds like you dont have one as it wont even power on.

Hold the camera button and plug into the usb port.

TBH it sounds like your IPL is buggered, not your SPL like usual (flashing Tornado ROM's to Hurricanes). Most people will notice that before entering bootlaoder, their phone screen flashes white, this is the IPL loading the SPL (more info on ROM sections can be found HERE) As you phone won't even display the white screen, your IPL must be buggered. So even if you have an SPL it wont load as you dont have anything to load it with :)
