Loss of sound

My flat mate has a M3100 like my self.

Two days back he started to lose sound on the device. It appears to be very intermittent to begin with. Just the screen tip sounds went and then incoming message sounds then ring tones. Then we discovered that he had also lost ear peace sound when receiving/ making a call.

He phoned Orange who were not very helpful at all - he did not get it from Orange directly but a 3rd party seller so he had to contact them to arraing for the RMA etc on it. He called the 3rd party up and they were not very helpful eather. I told him to contact HTC via the numbers on there site. He did and they told him to do a hard reset. This solved the problem for a short wile. We did not load any thing onto the phone and still the sounds went after a bit of time.

No one seems to want to take responsibility for this problem - has any one had experaince like this before?

The unit is defiantly faulty and there is no sign of user abuse and I would not put the blame there at all. I suspect dry joint or faulty connection some where.

Any ideas ?
