Guest MobileGadget Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 I have a US T-Mobile SDA and I would like to add A2DP support, I believe I need to update to AKU2 ROM before I can install the A2DP CAB files? And before I do that, I would like to backup my SMS messages and restore them back to my phone after the upgrade, keeping the incoming and outgoing SMS messages exactly the way they are. How do I go about doing that?

How do I go about doing that? You can use Jeyo Mobile Companion to back up your SMS, or Jeyo Outlook Extender Phil

I think I saw sms.dll, but not sure if this is it. If I can set all my SMSs to store onto my MiniSD, that'll be even better.

Guest MobileGadget Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 pim.vol does not contains also the sms. cemail.vol is the file with messages.. :D good thing I haven't flashed the ROM yet. Is there anything else I should know about? The upgrade procedure seems pretty straight forward to me, it's the backups that I am concerned about :).
Guest MobileGadget Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 For some reason, I can't copy cemail.vol to anywhere! First I tried copying over to my PC, that didn't work, then I tried copying within the phone to the internal storage card, I get "Error - Failed to copy "cemail.vol". Help please!

Help please! and theres me thinking it was PIM.vol :) Try renaming it then copying it. Phil
Guest MobileGadget Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 "Failed to rename". Argh! This file is really strict.
Guest DSF Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 sorry for the late reply. try this: - connect the phone to the pc - after activesync has established the connection between pc and mobile, press Explore - locate cemail.vol, press ctrl+c - go to a local folder/place on the pc (where you want to save the file) - restart the phone with the usb cable plugged in - when activesync has established the connection between pc and mobile quickly paste the file on the pc it seems that a system application lock the file, so the trick is to copy the file before that process has started. i've just tried to copy the cemail.vol file to the pc and it worked. for the restore process use the same method. please confirm if the restore process works (i personally haven't tried this.. just to backup). good luck! ps: this trick was already posted here somewhere .. so thanks to that guy (i don't remember his username..)
Guest conan_troutman Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 you could try a few programs before you flash it such as jeyo mentioned before sms exporter at handango or resco file manager 2005 that can often move file the in built file manager can not also try changon the properties of the file IE unticking the read only box the copying it the last one is what I used
Guest The Doctor Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 you could try a few programs before you flash it such as jeyo mentioned before sms exporter at handango or resco file manager 2005 that can often move file the in built file manager can not also try changon the properties of the file IE unticking the read only box the copying it the last one is what I used try downloading celetask 2.0 and killing the poutlook.exe process and then renaming your cemail.vol to cemail_backup.vol then reseting your device and copying the cemail_backup.vol to your pc you will then find a new cemail.vol is there after a reset. then kill poutlook.exe again and rename cemail.vol (the newly created one) to cemail_delete.vol then copying across the cemail_backup.vol from your computer and then deleting cemail_delete.vol and renaming cemail_backup.vol to cemail.vol you should now have cemail.vol on your device and cemail_backup.vol on your pc :) hope this helps Phil
