Guest africangrey Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 I`ve just got a 128Mb SD card. when installed the phone still thinks i`ve got the original 8Mb card, but when i install a program the phone knows there is 90Mb plus left free on the card. can anyone shed any light on this prob? ;)
Guest Ed Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 How do you mean "the phone still thinks i`ve got the original 8Mb card" ?
Guest africangrey Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 when i goto `programs/settings/about` it says there is 7.50Mb total storage and 6.57Mb free even though i`ve got a 128Mb SD installed. I have copied a 38.1Mb file to the card using activesync with no probs.
Guest AsherUK Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 The info on the about screen only shows the status of the memory inside the phone, not on the SD card. I think there is a post somewhere that say's you can use All Explorer to find the space remaining on the SD card.
Guest africangrey Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 it shows, `available storage` (which i would expect to be the card) and available `phone memory` (which i expect to be the built in phone memory)
Guest XPClone Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 The screen you are looking at does show the phone storage and not the storage card.
Guest AsherUK Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Yeah, it does seem a little confusing, although when the card is completly removed the phone still shows the same values, so I assume that these values only relate to the storage capacity of the phone itself, which is a little dumb, but thats MS for you !!
Guest Bazz Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 it shows, `available storage` (which i would expect to be the card) and available `phone memory` (which i expect to be the built in phone memory) Available storage is Storage on the phone (similar to your Hard Disk on your PC). Phone Memory is available Memory on the phone (similar to RAM on your PC). Memory is needed to run programs and storage is needed to store programs and data (mp3, pictures, ringtones... etc.). Use All-Explorer to work out available storage on the phone.
Guest Gorskar Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Yes indeed. If you select file>properties with the root Smartphone selected it brings up this info. If you select file>properties with the Storage card folder selected you can see how much free space is in the storage card.
