not sure if this tip has been done before but if you are running out of space (memory) and you have lots of things unstalled on to the phone or memory card then go to /Windows/AppMgr here you will find lots of folders trnsfer all except Install to either PC or SD card....

This will free up lots of space however if you need to uninstall a program or up date it you must transfer the folder with the program name back to that location ans reboot phone before doing so...

hope this is usefull to some of you

I posted this to another thread a while back but I think it kinda got lost.

I haven't seen any ill effects from doing this yet. The one program that I did have an issue with was Route 66, and that was solved by simply moving the entry for this app back into the AppMgr folder.

Some applications may ask if it is OK to let them run as they aren't certified but this should only happen once after you move the entries for those programs from the AppMgr folder.

Saved myself over 5MB of phone storage by doing this!

I do have quite a few installed but it also depends what apps you have installed. Some examples of the space saved:

AvantGo - 90KB

Fizz Traveller - 105KB

John Cody's alerts - 72KB

Movie Guide - 62KB

MS NET CF2 - 55KB

Meteor (Breakout style game) - 73KB

Pocket Mini Golf 2 + extra courses - 140KB

Facade - 140KB

Papyrus - 55KB

Sprite Backup - 460KB

Those few add up to around 1.3MB and I have a load of other stuff on top of that.

Having checked, the whole folder adds up to 2.25MB so I am obviously not remembering too clearly! I think the 5MB I cleared may have included a few other items from 'My Documents' and 'Application Data'.

Also there is a folder within AppMgr (called 'install') where CAB files are placed by ActivSync while it installs them. If an install fails you may have a CAB file left there taking up space. Part of my 5MB was probably accounted for in that. I definitely recall having about 1MB of phone storage left, then increasing that to about 6MB after clearing out the AppMgr folder and the directories I mentioned above.

I just checked and I have 6.25MB of storage free on my phone, which I think is pretty darn good considering I have a lot of stuff installed.

for wm2003 try deleting the evtlog.txt file first then when the new on appears after reboot open the properties and make it read only this will save you loads of space
