Guest Wombleuk Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 Over the last week, my phone has suddenly gone into 'searching...' mode looking for a provider, when I usually get a good signal where I am. My daughter is on the same network and always has a good signal. It sits there for hours, probably days, if I let it! Any ideas
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 Bet your daughter has a nokia :) What sort of signal did you used to get as in full or one or two bars? also try your SIM un her phone etc and see what the reception is like. A soft reset can also fix the problem if it gets stuck on searching.

I did a soft reset about 2 hours ago and initially it found my provider, I checked it 15 minutes later and it was searching....still is! Maybe my provider is having transmitter problems in this area. I guess that it's not necessarily a phone fault ? When she gets home, I'll try my sim in her phone.
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 Don't forget to call the network to check for any transmitter faults/work
Guest smcb Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 I had a problem with my SDA a few months ago. All of a sudden one day, it got very poor reception, and most of the time was "Searching". A friend at work also had an SDA, and he got great reception in all the same locations. Had to send it in for service, they replaced the main board.
Guest Wombleuk Posted January 1, 2007 Report Posted January 1, 2007 I think it must have been something going on with the transmitter. 24 hours later and it was OK and has been since.
Guest tboy2000 Posted January 1, 2007 Report Posted January 1, 2007 I have the same problem. With my vodafone sim in ny 8310 it now searches and searches and never gets a signal. I figured maybe its my sim or the network so I put the sim in another phone (SE Z600) and it got signal straight away and is fine. So that tells me it may be my phone, so I put in an Orange sim back in my 8310 expecting it to search for a signal and yet it gets ones straight away and a strong one. Huh??? So i can't have a dodgy sim or network problem as it works in another phone and I can't have a dodgy phone as another sim works fine in it. I did change the casing of the phone and the problem has happened since then but surely if I damaged something inside the orange sim would not work. Any one have any ideas? I have a lovely phone I can't use and using a standby phone instead.
Guest tboy2000 Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Anyone? really want to use my phone again :)
