Guest samawil Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 Hi everyone, I am currently using an HP 6915 (ppc wm5) I WAS using an HTC Excalibur (smartphone wm5) I woud like to know if there is a way to get the dial pad of a PPC phone to act like the dial pad of a Smartphone, IE it looks up all matching entries as you type either from contacts or call history. Thanks for any help, Louay
Guest AlanJC Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 Hi everyone, I am currently using an HP 6915 (ppc wm5) I WAS using an HTC Excalibur (smartphone wm5) I woud like to know if there is a way to get the dial pad of a PPC phone to act like the dial pad of a Smartphone, IE it looks up all matching entries as you type either from contacts or call history. Thanks for any help, Louay What you are talking about is actually an HTC application called Smart Dial, so you won't find it on the HP devices. There are a couple of alternatives, but I'm not aware of a free one. Finger Clix http://www.imaginet-software.com/index.aspx?p=fingerclix_en This will give you much of the same functionality, and is the cheapest option. Microsoft Voice Command http://microsoft.handango.com/PlatformProd...5&catalog=0 Just press a button on your device, or bluetooth headset, and say the name. You don't have to train it, it just understands which name you say. Also lets you control many other things on the device.
Guest samawil Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 Thanks Alan, I've looked into them, but I'm not sure that the first one is the same thing...I'll download the trial version and "trial" it for a while and see if I like it...If I find anything else, I'll post it here...thanks, Louay
Guest samawil Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 Nope...I tried Fingerflix, vito quick contacts, and some other app, and none do what I was hoping they would do... Basically, I want to be able to start dialing directly from the today screen, without pressing the contact button, or the green button...ideally I can start typing the name or just a phone number and it puts all matching fiends even if I dial locally (ie without +xxx like I have it in my contacts) :) If Smartdial is something native to the HTC, is it like the orange dll thingy? ie it's out there somewhere but it can't be posted on this site for legal reasons? L
Guest AlanJC Posted December 28, 2006 Report Posted December 28, 2006 Sorry, I didn't realise you meant having a phone pad on the today screen itself. There are a few apps that let you put quick dial shortcuts to contacts on the today screen, but I haven't seen one that actually puts the number pad on the today screen. I think you will have to put up with the hardship of pressing that green button before you dial :)
Guest samawil Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 So I was thinking....maybe upgrading to a new ROM and Ext ROM could solve this "dillema" I'm having...not sleeping at night, :)
Guest AlanJC Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 (edited) I don't think that would really make any difference. What you need is a program that gives you a dial pad from the Today screen. What happens if you are on the today screen and start typing out a number? On my HTC Universal it automatically opens the smartdial app, so maybe if you can get hold of smartdial it will work on yout device? Have a hunt for it over on http://forum.xda-developers.com if you like. Edited December 30, 2006 by AlanJC
