sd card and battery life

I bought a 2Gb Sandisk mini sd card from Ebay to replace the 512Mb card in my SP5. Anyway while transferring the data from my old card to the new one I noticed it seemed to be taking a long time to write to the new card via a USB2 card reader. I then copied some extra mp3's to fill some of the 2Gb, and again it took ages to write to the card. So I tested it with SANDRA, a benchmarking utility. I found that the old card could do approximately 7000 operations per second, while the new card was only doing approximately 450! The old card was from Kingmax and had no markings to say it was a high speed card. Using the slower 2Gb in the phone did make a difference as the phone seemed to take longer to load up programs. However the most noticeable difference was in the battery life. The phone has always had an excellent battery life, lasting 2 days with frequent use. With this new card, it was requiring a recharge after 12 hours with normal use. Even when fully charged, if left overnight without any use the charge was down to 75% by morning. I've gone back to my 512Mb card for the moment and the battery life has been restored. Anyone else experienced this? What sort of results do you get with SANDRA?(can be downloaded from download.com)

Quality of the card can give different battery life results as they longer it takes to write to the card the more power is used.

Interesting on makes as Sandisk are usually the more reliable.
