Medion Smartphone, unable to configure

I have a new Medion Smartphone, model MDSp150. I believe it’s based on the Sagem myS-7. I am using a Vodafone Pay As You Talk sim card.

I can’t configure it for the Internet or GPRS. I keep getting the message “Verify your dial-up or proxy settings are correct”. I’ve looked at your threads for other Smartphones, and other forums' threads too, but the instructions don’t tally with the options on my phone.

I’ve been in to Vodafone and Carphone Warehouse, and spoken to Vodafone and Medion by phone. None of them knows what I should be doing. Medion tech say all I need to do is tell Vodafone I have a Windows mobile based device; when I do this, Vodafone say they can’t help, and it wouldn’t work with PAYT anyway (funny, it worked just fine on my last phone with the very same sim card!)

Where do I obtain the relevant settings and how do I input them, please? (and how come it’s so easy for Vodafone to do it for any other model but this???)

Thanks very much.

I've already pored over those threads, and info from other forums, and I just can't make it work! The options on my phone don't seem to correspond, unless I'm going to the wrong place?

I have start, settings, data connections (internet, work, wap, secure wap, mms, all of which are defaulted to automatic). If I press Menu then edit connections from this screen, I get 4 options (dialup, vpn, proxy and gprs)... and then it starts to get more complicated!

As fo MMS, I have start, messaging, message options (ie only for composing a message) and the menu option only lets me save the message format as default. It doesnt have any options for setting it up.

Any suggestions? (apart from flushing the phone down the loo)

Have you tried setting the phone up like this ?

Settings-Data Connections

Menu-Edit Connections

GPRS connections

Menu-Add

Description: Vodafone WAP

Connects to: The Internet

Access point: pp.vodafone.co.uk

User name: wap

Password: wap

Primary DNS:

Secondary DNS:

IP address:

In Settings - Data connections

Internet Connection: GPRS Internet

In Internet Explorer, Menu-Options-Connections

Untick 'Auto detect settings'

Set 'Select network: 'The Internet'

As fo MMS, I have start, messaging, message options (ie only for composing a message) and the menu option only lets me save the message format as default. It doesnt have any options for setting it up.

The MMS application might be in the Accessories folder.
