Guest Michael 1999 Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 I am trying to use Tom Tom Navigator 6 whilst on my scooter. I have the phone and GPS unit in my pocket and the headphones (supplied with the phone) inside my helmet. It works great except that everytime I lean, this causes either a button on the phone to be pressed or the screen to be pressed. This then goes into the Tom Tom menus or activates a program on the phone with the result that I can no longer hear the verbal directions from Jane (the nice Tom Tom lady!). Is there a way to lock the keys and screen whilst Tom Tom is running so I can still hear the verbal directions? Also, I woud like to be able to turn the back light off to save the battery but again there seems to be no way to do this without de-activating the verbal directions. Any ideas?

I have an app on my site i made my self in vb to turn of the screen give it a go an let me know.. find it in downloads section on www.mikesel.info in my vb projects section! You may need to install .net ce reuntimes im on my phone atm but will post more info later!
Guest MikeSel Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Right, so am back on a computer now.. So if you download the zip file from http://mikesel.info/index.php?option=com_d...2&Itemid=28 Unzip it and find the EXE in the 'BIN' folder. Copy it to your device, and create a shortcut on your device, possibly in your start menu somewhere. You could even link it to a hardware button if you wish. Then launch tomtom and then switch off the screen.. You may also need the .NET CE runtimes you can find here: http://mikesel.info/index.php?option=com_d...4&Itemid=28 I would be interested to know if this does the trick, also if you need any customisations to the application I would be happy to try and help!
Guest Michael 1999 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 thanks I'll give it a go. first i have to try and fnd a way of locking the device when it's in my pocket. The only thing I can think of is wrapping it in bubblewrap! - hardly ideal but hopefully it works..
Guest jimbouk Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 There's quite a few device lock apps out there. One of those will allow tomtom to keep running but will switch off the screen and the buttons - until you press a certain buttom combo.
