Guest andysalmon Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 I have a Magician and a Wizard (which I have now owned for a year). My Magician has always connected with no problems at all but until today my Wizard has not connected. I have previously posted regarding this problem. Everything was either greyed out or would hang when attempting to connect the Wizard. Allowing access to my firewall or disabling the firewall failed to make any difference. Neither did a fresh install of Windows and AS on a brand new computer. I closely inspected the USB cable- nothing appeared to be the matter with that, so I have downloaded various flavours of AS, including the beta AS 4.5. But today whilst in my loft, I came across my Magician box with the unused USB cable in it. I thought I'd give it a whirl, and yes you've guessed it...both devices now work (I still have to close the firewall for the Wizard though- but not the Magician!) For the small cost involved for anyone having problems, a USB cable *may* be the way to go. Just thought I'd post this in case I can stop someone else being driven mad :) :D
Guest Pondrew Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Glad to hear it sorted :) Very strange that only one device was affected by the apparently dodgy cable...
Guest mcwarre Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 What firewall are you using? I have a wizard and have had several firewalls, all of which have worked
Guest andysalmon Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 What firewall are you using? I have a wizard and have had several firewalls, all of which have worked I've tried both Zonealarm in both free and Pro and Kerio free. Probs with each :)
Guest mcwarre Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 I've tried both Zonealarm in both free and Pro and Kerio free. Probs with each :) Zonealarm Pro was okay for me. Never used Kerio. How strange that it works for one not the other. Have you tried deleting the rule and then reattaching the device?
Guest genaldar Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 No offense but why didn't you try the other cable a year ago?
Guest andysalmon Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 No offense but why didn't you try the other cable a year ago? Because hindsight is a beautiful thing :)
