I have a SPV C550 running on Virgin and two or three times in November I noticed I had been charged for GPRS on my online bill for times when I know I hadnt used it. I rarely need to, having uninterrupted use of broadband on my desktop PC. Maybe the odd MMS and email, but thats it. I noticed from my Virgin bill that I had "accessed other sites" at the same time several mornings running. Having no explanation for this I altered the settings on my phone so that GPRS would not connect. So during December no GPRS was used and no charges. The other day I put the settings back to normal and by the next morning I had run up a bill of over £20 ( I forgot it was enabled, and went to bed ),.DOH!

Now I cant argue with Virgin over these charges being applied as I have ALL LOCATIONS GPRS counter installed and the usage measured is pretty close to what I have been billed for , so i accept it has been used.

On my phone the only suspects are

1 FIZZ TRAVELLER.......... but auto updates is switched off for all events and the update history is blank

2 ALL LOCATIONS GPRS counter, but as far as i know, this does not update automatically

3 MOBILE PANELS SMART METER SOFTWARE, this shows no activity since I turned GPRS off in December.

I previously ran the same handset on Orange until mid November and had exactly the same programs installed with no such problems. The only GPRS ever measured was stuff i could clearly account for, so.........

Can anyone please help me out here with any ideas what is happening and how i can avoid this happening again, without permanently disabling GPRS on my phone.

PS Forgot to say that no one else has access to my phone

Check your email accounts aren't polling the mail servers every 15 minutes.

And are you sure that Fizz Traveller isnt getting live info (as opposed to software updates) ?
