Guest sesro1978 Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 Hi, I recently developed (with a bit of help from "cut & paste") my own, custom home screen for my Cingular (HTC) 2125. I have converted the .txt file on my PC desktop to an .xml file and copied that .xml to my device in the Applications/Home directory. After doing this I go to my phone and try and find the new home screen .xml in the settings menu under Home Screens and I cannot see it. All of the default home screens are visible, but mine is not... By all accounts it is there; at least in ActiveSync Explorer... Am I doing something incorrectly? What can I do to use my new home screen? Please help... Appreciatively, S

Try opening the xml with IE, it will tell you where's the fault. :) Otherwise post your xml, so we can have a look at it.

In the meantime I will ask your trained eyes to look for errors in my script. My .xml file text: <?xml version="1.0"?> SethD will_insert_later SethDHome 1.0 <!-- Defaults --> <!-- Background --> <!-- Colour Scheme --> <!-- IconBar Plugin --> <!-- Date/Time/Carrier Plugin --> ? ? <!-- SMS Count Plugin --> ? ? ? ?Email: ? ? ?SMS: ? ? ?M@il: <!-- Profile Plugin --> ? ? ? Profile: <!-- Profile Plugin --> ? ? ? Profile: <!-- Calendar Plugin --> ? ? ? ? Thanks for any help you can lend; this is actually pretty fun! ~S
Guest sesro1978 Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 Hi, I was finally able to get my custom home screen to display...with one tiny (I hope) problem. The original Windows "Start" and "Contacts" bar remains at the bottom portion of the home screen...pretty much obscuring my calendar appointments and events. I would like to get rid of the original bar and replace with text and no bar so that I can see my calendar events...I'm thinking this is a pretty easy line of code to implement but I've been out of the html/xml coding game for awhile so any pointers of where to begin would be appreciated. Also I noticed that the "Profile" indication appears 2 times on my home screen...maybe I will work with this and hopefully that will "resize" the home screen... Oh, and the problem with my original xml- The question marks...go figure eh? ~S
