Guest ddieter Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 I've read some conflicting information on the HTC Trinity series. Some of the articles I've read, said it has the GPS chipset built in, but its currently not activated because of problems with it. But I also recall hearing that this is false, and the Trinity is shipped WITHOUT a GPS chip at all. Could somebody please set the record straight?
Guest mavisdavis Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Ditto, This (depending on the outcome) will be my nxt phone when its released

The device does have a GPS Chipset within, but currently there is an internal confliction with it. I saw an HTC email which said something like - "should... possibly... can not confirm 100%... buy at your own risk"
Guest seaephpea Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 It has been fixed in new versions of the phone at least. See: http://www.theunwired.net/?itemid=3554 Tom
Guest dave106 Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 All Trinitys do have a GPS chipset, there is currently a dopod D810 test rom out in the wild now which enables it. (no, dont ask me where you can get it) I except all other carriers with follow suit very soon.
Guest MJPMoc Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 I realise this is fairly unsubstantiated, but i have a warm feeling in my toes this will have GPS built in. Orange will be in deep doggy doo if they dont release a GPS phone and quickly as the other carriers have !! plus other carriers have now sorted out the issue with this model I find it HIGHLY unlikely this will be released without GPS fully functional on Orange. you'll see !!!! either that or i'm wrong, which has been known once....back in 1985 it was.....

Am really keen to find out how the GPS performs compared to a usual bluetooth SIRF III thingy...i.e. how quick to get a fix ? reliability of connection in built up areas (which the sirf III is normall very good at) blaaa blaaa. Please hurry :) many thanks
