Guest gladel Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 Hi. Windows Mobile 5 is out along with its fancy QVGA screens and other stuff and is absolutely a far cry from its little brethrens (eg. Smartphone 2002, 2003, SE). My concern is, in the long run, will software developers still continue to support Smartphone 2002/2003/SE OSes? Or will they somehow stop support little by little? Any opinion on this?
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 Surely this is a fact of life ? I would be surprised if software developers were still actively supporting Smartphone 2002 devices.
Guest gladel Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 So is it proper to say that as of now Smartphone 2003 SE is obsolete in a sense?
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 Like many others, I'm still happily using a 2003 device but I know that there won't be any further ROM updates. I know that some new software titles won't work on my Magician and sometime this year I'll replace it with a WM05 PPC. To describe it as obsolete seems a bit harsh but it's probably the truth :)
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 As far as I'm aware companies like Astraware still support 2003 devices etc. QVGA is not the main issue as the HTC Oxygen (Orange C100) will not be QVGA.
